Our Client pursued multiple opportunities in the 21st Licencing Round. They were successful in application and award of five new licences, two of which host significant ‘growth’ potential in the Barents Sea. The Norway Subsurface organization has an opening for an experienced Development Geologist to work with the Reservoir Description team. The primary roles for the candidate will be to perform reservoir characterization studies and modeling in the Norway operated assets, and to interact with the Well Planning team providing advice on placement of wells in the active and continuous development drilling program.

Identify, recommend and deliver systematic studies to advance our understanding of the reservoir characteristics of the Norway operated fields (historical and current focus is on the Ekofisk, Eldfisk and Tor chalk fields)
Perform fracture characterization studies, including image log interpretation and analysis, to improve our predictions of fracture controls on permeability
Perpetuate existing technical products designed to assess predictive accuracy of current characterization, and to update existing characterizations based on new static and dynamic information
Interface with reservoir engineers, petrophysicists and geophysicists in updating the reservoir characterization to improve the history match of the reservoir flow models
Creation or maintenance of reservoir geomodels
Provide guidance on reservoir uncertainties and risks relevant to assessment of development well locations
Compile post-audit data on development well results in comparison to pre-drill predictions
Collaborate with Norway Subsurface teams to justify and gain approval for additional data acquisition in the ongoing well operations programs
Interface with Subsurface Technology and industry to identify new technologies to advance our reservoir characterizations
Mentor and disseminate reservoir characterization skills to the Norway Subsurface staff.

MSc degree or equivalent in Geosciences

8+ years hands on development geology and reservoir characterization experience
MS Office.

Fluent English is required.

Direct experience characterizing chalk and/or fractured reservoirs
Specific skills and expertise preferably in chalk reservoirs assessing structural heterogeneity at the reservoir scale, and impact on fluid flow
Track record of integrating large data sets and diverse data types (well, production, seismic) to derive reservoir characterization products
Competency in performing borehole image log interpretations
Demonstrated development geology experience across a variety of reservoir types and settings
Basic skills in building and updating geomodels (preferably with Petrel or RMS)
Effective skills collaborating in a multi-disciplinary team environment
Experience assessing risk and uncertainty for development well locations and programs
Familiarity with Petrel and Landmark application suites for subsurface workflows
Effective skills in mentoring and knowledge sharing
