Senior Research Scientist, In Vivo or In Vitro Systems Electrophysiologist (2 positions)

We are now recruiting two Senior Research Scientists for two one year long assignments starting as soon as possible the location is Södertälje.

The successful candidates will be given an exciting opportunity to provide vital support to ongoing projects within the Analgesia and Neurology area in the Neuroscience department.
The role
This is a lab-based role and you will contribute to the analgesia and neurology projects by providing data derived from electrophysiological experiments, performed using in vivo, in vitro or ex vivo neuronal tissues. Focus will be on either extracellular recordings involving brain slice tissue, sensory nerves (in vivo or made from isolated preparations), or patch clamp on dorsal root ganglion neurons and in neurons within brain slices, and to pharmacologically profile compounds of interest in these models. The successful candidate will be a proactive self-starter who will be responsible for experimental design and the generation, interpretation and communication of data. There is an expectation that the candidate will contribute to the scientific understanding of our targets and that they will collaborate with colleagues from other disciplines to ensure the success of our projects.
Minimum experience
A PhD in neuroscience, pharmacology, or equivalent experience
Expertise in extracellular recording methodologies or patch clamp
Preferred experience/requirements
Experience from recordings from primary afferent neurons or brain slices
Experience from small animal surgery
Sound understanding of analgesia and the mechanisms contributing to nociceptor sensitization, excitability and ectopia, and/or good understand of synaptic neurophysiology and mechanisms of synaptic plasticity.
Previous experience with quantitative software packages.
